In his press conference on 18 March 2020, the Prime Minister was very clear – schools are an essential operation and will remain open. Teaching and learning will continue as planned. We will update you with the latest information for students and staff on any impact on APAC operations.

Advice from the Australia Government is clear that schools should remain open. To view the advice from the Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young (PDF, 142KB) outlining the importance of schools remaining open.

APAC academic staff and the board of directors have an Action Plan in order to manage our response to the virus. The group is monitoring the situation closely, following the advice of Queensland Health and the Federal Department of Health and planning for a range of scenarios should the virus impact directly on our campus.

Everyone should practice good hand and respiratory hygiene measures to protect against infections. APAC recommends students and staff wash their hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based rubs, try and stay at least 1.5 metres away from people, and please isolate yourself and call 13HEALTH if feeling unwell.

The Australian Government has announced that all borders are closed to non-citizens and non-residents from 9pm Friday 20 March 2020. Australian citizens and permanent residents and those exempt from the new entry restrictions are still subject to a compulsory 14-day self-isolation period, regardless of where they are travelling from.

Our primary priority is the health and wellbeing of our APAC community. We understand this is a difficult time for students and staff.
